Customizing Our Unique Celtic Jewelry

The handcrafted Celtic Jewelry at MCR can almost always be individually customized to meet your personal taste and wishes.  This includes our unique Irish Claddagh rings, earrings,  pendants, and even our Claddagh bracelets.

You may be able to minimize your expenses substantially by first browsing the existing available models and designs in each of our Celtic jewelry categories.  Any existing item will always cost less to order than a brand new model or a customized version of an existing model.  Although we enjoy a brisk business of custom orders, we're happy to save money for our customers as best as we can (no hype here).

-- Your questions regarding custom orders or customized orders will be answered promptly by email to:

-- Most custom jobs require the carving of at least one totally new wax model

-- Some of the items we make are made of 2 or more parts with each requiring a separate hand carved wax model.  The cost of each custom made wax model is  $145.00.

-- Each new wax model requires a new rubber mold.  The cost of each new mold is $30.00

-- A typical custom made 2 part item, will require 2 wax models and 2 molds.  Therefore the additional cost for a 2 part ring, or pendant, or whatever, is $350.   A one piece design will cost $175 for the model and mold.

-- These custom charges are in ADDITION to the price of the finished ring.

-- The expenses for custom models and molds, and the finished jewelry is not refundable.  Creating new jewelry can be expensive, but we feel that the additional expense for the custom created new models and molds is very reasonable especially when one considers the artistic talent, skill and craftsmanship that it takes to hand carve an original wax model. See the special page on how our rings are made: Wax Models

-- Have your silver Celtic jewelry or unique Irish Claddagh rings selections done with a satin finish instead of the usual bright finish. A natural, hightly polished  finish is considered by many to be the most beautiful option of all.  No extra charge for your choice of finish.

-- Select a different stone, stone shape and size.  Extra charge may apply depending on specifics.  See some photos of stones here: STONES.  If you see one you like just ask us about availability in desired shape and size.  Not all stones are the same price.  We'll quote you prices as needed.

-- Select your choice of 14K or 18K yellow, white, rose or green gold. Check with us for current extra charges for rose or green gold.  Note: we do not work with 10K gold.

-- Request that your ring be antiqued and we will apply a black media to the background area of the knotwork for only $20 additional.  Please note that antiquing cannot be removed without damage to the ring.  Antiqued and other customized items are not covered by our 30 Day Refund Guarantee.

Note:  We use Plumb Gold Exclusively

No Mass Production

Our Celtic jewelry is not mass produced or machine made in a "jewelry factory." Each item is individually hand crafted from scratch, very much as it was done hundreds of years ago.  Here's the basic process as it actually happens:

A highly skilled model maker artist carefully hand carves the detailed original design in wax or creates it using metal wire.   A casting and mold specialist then creates the mold and uses it to "shoot a wax."  This newer and softer wax model is then used to create a metal (silver or gold) casting.   The wax gets "lost" as it vaporizes and is replaced by the casting of hot gold or silver.  The casting, now cooled and in rough form,  is then passed on to our finishing specialist.  This person does all of the fine finishing, polishing and assembly work on every piece that we build.  After finishing the work is closely inspected and any needed touch-ups are made.

Our jewelers are artists.  We build one piece at at time, start to finish.  Each step in the process is performed by people who love their work and are true masters of their specialized crafts.
